Deep Kalra
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
The pioneer of online travel in India, Deep Kalra founded MakeMyTrip in April, 2000. Drawing on his experience from his years at GE Capital, AMF Bowling Inc. and ABN AMRO Bank, under his stewardship, MakeMyTrip has become the largest online travel company, as well as the largest e-commerce business in India.
Deep is a member of the Executive Council of NASSCOM and chairs the NASSCOM Internet Working Group. He is also a Charter Member of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and serves on the Board of TiE, New Delhi. Deep is also a member of CII's Tourism sub-committee and a regular speaker at numerous internet and travel conferences across the world. He currently serves as an independent Director for IndiaMart.com, a leading B2B website. Deep is also a founding member of “I am Gurgaon”, an NGO focused on the improving the quality of life in Gurgaon.
Deep holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi (1990), and a MBA (PGDM) degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (1992). His interests include adventure sports, swimming, yoga, quizzing and travelling to places off the beaten path.
Sachin Bhatia
Co-Founder
Sachin Bhatia currently oversees new business lines for the company, including such ventures as rail, bus, car, and OkTaTaByeBye.com (a travel community initiative), besides all non-travel revenue streams. Till 2008, Sachin headed the marketing for MakeMyTrip and was instrumental in building the company as the top online travel brand in India as well as among NRIs in the US. This visionary quality was recognised recently, when Sachin was awarded the India Youth Icon for Technology, at the prestigious India Youth Icon Awards.
Beginning his career at Nuchem-Weir, Sachin has had comprehensive hands-on experience in the areas of Marketing and Advertising and was responsible for institutional sales of potable water. Subsequently, Sachin was with Grey Advertising in New Delhi and Mumbai. He then managed the marketing initiatives for AMF Bowling Inc., with a focus on India and South Asia, before founding MakeMyTrip.
Sachin holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and a MBA degree from Strathclyde Graduate Business School, Scotland. He is a keen white water rafter and has navigated most of the rivers in India.
Keyur Joshi
Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer
Keyur Joshi is the Chief Operating Officer of the company and is an integral part of the MakeMyTrip strategic think tank. Along with being responsible for sales and business development, his portfolio includes establishing MakeMyTrip's presence in the US market. MakeMyTrip's hybrid retail model is also a part of Keyur's portfolio, giving MakeMyTrip the ability to serve the fast growing holiday market in India with a retail presence across locations. Also closely associated with the technological evolution of MakeMyTrip, Keyur has worked on MakeMyTrip's new-age engine for hotel distribution in India.
Keyur was also instrumental in jumpstarting the online travel market in India in 2005. Before founding MakeMyTrip, Keyur worked with Around the World Travel (now called JustFares.com), transitioning it into an online B2C travel company. He has also worked with Tata Motors, where he was involved in Market Research and Product Management.
Keyur holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Gujarat University and a MBA degree from the City University of New York, New York. He is also a certified pilot and doesn't miss a chance to take to the skies.
Rajesh Magow
Co-Founder & Chief Financial Officer
Rajesh Magow is the Chief Financial Officer of the company. Along with F&A, Rajesh oversees Outsourced Operations, Automation and Quality Function.
He has over 16 years of functional expertise in the IT, ITES and Internet industries. Prior to MakeMyTrip, Rajesh worked with ebookers/Cendant (now Travelport) as CFO and Head of Financial Operations as well as being the Active CEO for a year. He has also worked with Aptech Limited, Quantum and Voltas.
Rajesh is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi. His interests include cricket, watching business and sports on TV and his latest stress buster, playing Nintendo Wii.
Chetan Uberoy
Chief Technology Officer
Chetan Uberoy is the Chief Technology Officer of MakeMyTrip and has been responsible for the technological evolution of the company, making it one of the strongest IT-based travel companies in the world. An e-commerce technologist with 14 years of hands-on experience, Chetan has spent more than 9 years designing, building and deploying large scale e-commerce applications.
Chetan has worked with Bay Area e-commerce start-ups like Andale and Nextag, prior to which he worked for Brooks Automation, developing enterprise-class applications for the semiconductor manufacturing domain.
Chetan holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Engineering from Delhi Institute of Technology, New Delhi and an MS in Computer Science from Oregon State University, Oregon. His interests include yoga and golf.
Mohit Gupta
Chief Marketing Officer
Mohit Gupta is the Chief Marketing Officer of MakeMyTrip, overseeing all marketing activities for the company. With 11 years of experience in the field, Mohit has handled the sales, field marketing, brand marketing and channel leadership assignments across many levels and geographies in beverage industry, mainly Pepsi Foods Pvt. Ltd., where he was the Vice President, Marketing. He was responsible for developing the 7UP brand franchise and the Lime Lemon category for Pepsico's South Asia Business Unit. Mohit started his career with Voltas Ltd. as a Management Trainee in the Air Conditioning Business Division.
Mohit holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sardar Patel University, Gujarat and a MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is a keen photographer and practices yoga to relax.
Rajnish Kapur
Chief Innovation Officer
Rajnish is the Chief Innovation Officer of MakeMyTrip and is responsible for Automation, UI, Content and Quality Assurance. With 20 years of professional experience, Rajnish has been at the forefront of the Internet revolution and has vast experience in building solutions for the wired world. Prior to MakeMyTrip, he was responsible for the planning and the implementation of the strategies for growth of the Travel & Distribution practice and Solution Delivery at Kale Consultants Limited.
Rajnish was also CEO/CTO of Cognosys, a company focused on Travel Technology, which he founded in 2000. He also co-founded eTravelIndia.com.
Rajnish holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science) from Bangalore University, Bangalore and is an alumnus of Sri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Delhi University. Rajnish has to his credit a US patent (No. 6,775,683) as a co-inventor along with General Electric. He is a voracious reader and a science buff.
Amit Saberwal
Vice President – Retail and Business Development
Amit Saberwal is the Vice President of Retail and Business Development for MakeMyTrip, where he has developed such business lines as Hotels, India holidays, Meetings & Incentives, and Trade Fairs, is responsible for the profitability of all the sales and regional offices of the company. He has over 18 years of experience in the Travel and Tourism industry, and has previously worked as Directors Sales and Marketing with Park Hotels in Bangalore and New Delhi.
Amit is a hotel management graduate with a Post Graduate Diploma in Sales & Marketing from National Institute for Sales, New Delhi. He has spent time at Cornell University honing his professional skills as a hotelier. Amit's interests include solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles and sampling exotic cuisine.
Anand Kandadai
Vice President – Outbound Tours
Anand Kandadai is the Vice President of Outbound Tours for MakeMyTrip, where he has planned and implemented business strategies to drive revenues & profitability. With over 13 years of expertise in the travel industry across various functions, Anand brings to the company his enormous experience and sound business knowledge. Prior to MakeMyTrip, he worked with such travel companies as SOTC, Thomas Cook and Cox & Kings.
Anand holds a Bachelor's degree in Science from Bangalore University, Bangalore and a Post Graduate Diploma in Systems Management from NIIT, Bangalore. He is an avid reader and enjoys travelling.
