Cairo Nile River, Cairo
Cairo is located on the banks and islands of the River Nile, in the north of Egypt. It is immediately south of where the river leaves its desert-bound valley and breaks into two branches into the low-lying Nile Delta region, and has through the millennia benefited greatly by this proximity, making it the centre of commerce in Egypt.
