Saudi Arabian Airlines operating as Saudia was founded in year 1945 When U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt presented a Douglas DC-3 as a gift to King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud. It is a fully owned government agency under the control of the Ministry of Defense, with TWA running the airline under a management contract. This airline is the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia and its main operational base is situated at Jeddah-King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). It also has other hubs which are Riyadh-King Khalid International Airport (RUH), and Dammam-King Fahd International Airport (DMM). It is the member of Arab Air Carriers Organization and SkyTeam. It joined the Sky Team airline alliance on May 29, 2012. This airline also has won various awards in aviation industry such as the Silver MENA Travel, Yahoo Middle East Online Award for best regional online marketing and Quality Cube Award from Lufthansa, Silver Plate from Royal Brunei Airlines for On Time Performance and Diamond Award from On Board Services Magazine, among others.
