The Destination

For life on the edge

Pithoragarh Valley

The verdant colors of the Pithoragarh seem unending. Sylvan, uninterrupted stretches of lush greenery only get interrupted by wildflowers that peep out to the road. An almost virgin and calm area except the roaring Kali river that divides the area from Nepal.

Pithoragarh is part of the inner Himalayas, at a height of 1,851 meters in a spectacular valley called 'Little Kashmir'. Some parts of

the district are at a height of 3,000 feet while others touch 4,724 meters and some area is perpetually covered by snow. On the old trade route to Tibet and on the pilgrimage route to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, is this quite little place. Besides the very photographic views are courteous locals, tiny tea and food shacks and maybe herds of mountain sheep who ding-dong their way for a sunny meal in the valleys. Pithoragarh is as dreamy as it reads. Go on, explore !
