Kasauli, a serene hill station, a quaint little town, time seems to have stopped still here. Resplendent with spectacular beauty and panoramic views, Kasauli is one of those few destinations developed by the British when it was at the zenith of its rule. This charming hill-station, oozing old-world charisma is covered with tall Deodar, wild flowers, rhododendrons, wild roses, flame of the forest, and flowering Kichnar in summer and is a popular point for bird-watchers. This town has yet not lost its old colonial charm, and this will be evident to you when you watch  the  cobbled  paths , old  fashioned shops , gabled houses

with their charming facades and scores of tiny well maintained little gardens and orchards thronged with chir-pine, Himalayan Oaks and huge horse chestnuts.

This tranquil hill station was developed as a cantonment-sanatorium for over 20 years, after the British had based themselves at Shimla. Besides being an unruffled town, it is also known for its Pasteur Institute, which is involved in producing anti-rabies vaccine against dog-bite.

Located 1,927 meters above sea level and just 70 kms from Chandigarh, legend has it that Kasauli came into existence when Lord Hanuman, on his way to getting the Sanjeevani herb, stepped here for jumping on to the Sanjeevani hill. At Kasauli there is a Hanuman Mandir atop the 300-mt high hillock, called Monkey Point, where Hanuman is supposed to have rested his feet.

The highest point in Kasauli, Monkey Point is just 4 km from the Kasauli bus stand. It commands an excellent view of the remote plains of Chandigarh region and the river Sutlej. A small temple is also situated on top of the hill which is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Another place to visit is Dharampur, located about 15 kms away. Set amidst the healthy fragrance of pine trees Dharampur has one of the best hospitals for tuberculosis treatment. Kasauli is a quiet, untouched hill resort which allows you to enjoy the picturesque view of the hill tops and valleys.

19 kms from Kasauli, you must visit the village of Dagshai. Its beautifully laid walks and picnic spots under the covering of oaks and holly forests, it was the most favoured picnic spots during the British Raj. You will walk into the past here down cobbled-stone streets lined with colonial bungalows.

Getting There & Away to Kasauli

	You can fly to Chandigarh, which is 70 kms away - a two-hour drive. Major domestic airlines fly between Delhi and Chandigarh.
	The best way to reach Kasauli is to take a train. The nearest railhead is Kalka, from where one can take a cab to Kasauli -an hour's drive.
	By road it is 315 kms from Delhi and there are plenty of buses and taxis that will take you there.
