Blessed by Mother Nature with pure love, nestled in the midst of the mighty Himalayas

Almora
is placed on a hillock which is Horseshoe shaped and is bordered by dense forests
of fir and pine trees. The backdrop has lovely snow-capped peaks of Himalayas. Right in the
centre of the town is the Nanda Devi temple, which is dedicated to the presiding
deity of Almora, and Narsingh temple are evidence of the great faith of people in their God. A
major festival devoted to the goddess takes place in August when people from all over Kumaon
converge to worship and participate in the cultural events. Culturally also this place is very rich and
all round the year Almora celebrates many festivals and cultural events. It's worth spending a holiday in the beautifule and cultural town of Almore, India. |
Scenic beauty is Almora's major appeal. Views of sunrise and sunset from the Brighton End Corner,
at one end of the Mall Road, are worth the walk. In the 16th century, the Chandra dynasty of Kumaon had
their capital at Almora and hence there are some old temples dotting the town and its neighbourhood. Those
interested in knowing more about the cultural holiday of Kumaon can visit the Museum near the bus-stand.
Other notable attractions are the Ramkrishna Mission, Anandamayee Ashram, All India Cultural Centre, Kali
Math, and Deer Park etc.
