In the year 1963 Royal Jordanian Airlines was established under the royal decree by the late King Hussein. When it was established it was named Alia, which was the name of the King Hussein first child, Princess Alia. The Royal Jordanian airlines are under the control of government though it was founded by the capital from private shareholders. Today it is considered the flag airlines of Jordan and it has its hub at Queen Alia International Airport.
