One of the oldest carriers in the world, Aeroflot was officially started on February 9, 1923. On July 15, 1923, the first regular domestic route was opened for Aeroflot Airlines between Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. In the year 1937 international flights were started by Aeroflot. In 1956, Aeroflot launched TU-104 jets for operations on domestic and international routes.

With its vast fleet Aeroflot carries over 6 million passengers per year.
